Michael Owen VK3KI, a
former WIA Federal President and the primary author of the present WIA
federal constitution, IARU Vice-President from 1989 to 1999 and a member
of the IARU Observer Team at WRC 03, became involved in the possible
restructure of the WIA from federal body to a single national body last
December when he accepted an invitation to join the informal meeting held
in Sydney to explore that suggestion.
As a lawyer, he wrote the draft constitution that was presented to the
Federal Convention that has just been held in Brisbane and adjourned.
Michael participated in the Convention. Michael has agreed to talk
at the EMDRC April coffee shop meeting, and will explain the restructure
that is being proposed, including a suggested agreement between the
divisions to enable a smooth transition to a national body.
A warm and open invitation is being extended by the Eastern and Mountain
District Radio Club to ALL VK3 Amateurs and VK3 clubs
to come and join in this meeting, for an opportunity to hear and ask
questions of Michael regarding the proposed changes to the WIA. The
meeting is to be held on Friday April the 16th at the EMDRC clubrooms 12A
McCubbin Street Burwood, that's Melways 61 E7 and the meeting will be
kicking off at 8:00pm Full details can be found at the clubs website http://www.emdrc.com.au
